BRADFORD, Samuel Clement (1878-1948) Science Museum, London 1899-1937 (DL 1925, CL 1930) Despite lack of encouragement from his governing body, the Board of Education (Department of Education and Science) he built up a small collection of books and periodicals into one of the most comprehensive scientific libraries in Europe. He formulated his 'law of scatter' of periodical articles on specific subjects i.e. most in a few journals and a minority in others, hence the need to have them all. One of the founders of the British Society for International Bibliography, he was a devotee of the UDC.
